I have learned..

•September 26, 2008 • 1 Comment

If you will take the time to read these. I promise you’ll come away
with an enlightened perspective. .. The subjects covered affect us all on
a daily basis!
They’re written by Andy Rooney , a man who has the gift of saying so
much with so few words.

I’ve learned…. That the best classroom in the world is at the feet of
an elderly person.

I’ve learned…. That when you’re in love, it shows.

I’ve learned…. That just one person saying to me, ‘You’ve made my
day!’ makes my day.

I’ve learned…. That having a child fall asleep in your arms is one of
the most peaceful feelings in the world.

I’ve learned…. That being kind is more important than being right.

I’ve learned…. That you should never say no to a gift from a child.

I’ve learned…. That I can always pray for
someone when I don’t have
the strength to help him in some other way.

I’ve learned…. That no matter how serious your life requires you to
be, everyone needs a friend to act goofy with.

I’ve learned…. That sometimes all a person needs is a hand to hold and
a
heart to understand.

I’ve learned…. That simple walks with my father around the block on
summer nights when I was a child did wonders for me as an adult.

I’ve learned…. That life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer it
gets to the end, the faster it goes.

I’ve learned…. That we should be glad God doesn’t give us everything
we ask for.

I’ve learned…. That money doesn’t buy class.

I’ve learned…. That it’s those small daily happenings that make life
so spectacular.

I’ve learned… That under everyone’s hard shell is someone who wants to
be appreciated and loved.

I’ve learned…. That to ignore the facts does not change the facts.

I ve learned…. That when you plan to get even with someone, you are
only letting that person continue to hurt you.

I’ve learned…. That love, not time, heals all wounds.

I’ve learned…. dat the easiest way for me to grow as a person is to
surround myself with people smarter than I am.

I’ve learned…. dat everyone you meet deserves to be greeted with a
smile.

I’ve learned…. dat no one is perfect until you fall in love with
them.

I’ve learned… dat life is tough, but I’m tougher.

I’ve learned….. dat opportunities are never lost; someone will take
the ones you miss.

I’ve learned…. dat when you harbor bitterness, happiness will dock
elsewhere.

I’ve learned…. dat I wish I cud have told my Mom dat I love her
one more time before she passed away.

I’ve learned…. dat one should keep his words both soft and tender,
because tomorrow he may hv to eat them.

I’ve learned…. dat a smile is an inexpensive way to improve ur
looks.

I’ve learned…. dat when ur newly
born grandchild holds your little
finger in his little fist, that you’re hooked for life.

I’ve learned…. dat everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, bt
all the happiness and grow

I’ve learned…. That everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but
all the happiness and growth occurs while you’re climbing it.

I’ve learned…. That the less time I have to work with, the more things
I get done.

Someone knows only the shelter of these old arms each time their world begins to crumble.

Go not to the temple to put flowers upon the feet of God,
First fill your own house with the Fragrance of love…
Go not to the temple to light candles before the altar of God,
First remove the darkness of sin from your heart…
Go not to the temple to bow down your head in prayer,
First learn to bow in humility before your fellowmen…
Go not to the temple to pray on bended knees,
First bend down to lift someone who is down-trodden. ..
Go not to the temple to ask for forgiveness for your sins,
First forgive from your heart those who have sinned against you.

True friendship isn’t seen with the eyes, it is felt with the heart.
When there is trust, understanding, loyalty, and sharing.
True friendship is a rare feeling, but when it is found
It has profound impact on our well-being, strength, and character.
True friendship does not need elaborate gifts
Or spectacular events in order to be valuable or valued.
To ensure long-lasting quality and satisfaction,
True friendship only needs a few key ingredients:
Undying loyalty, unmatched understanding, unsurpassed trust,
Deep and soulful secrets, and endless sharing.
These ingredients, mixed with personality and a sense of humor,
Can make a friendship last a lifetime!
This is just a thank you, my friend, for all the wonderful and colorful
Special ingredients You’ve brought to my life!

47. Too True, Too Often                                                                                                                                      Too often we don’t realize
What we have until it is gone
Too often we wait too late to say
“I’m sorry – I was wrong.”
Sometimes it seems we hurt the ones
We hold dearest to our hearts
And we allow foolish things
To tear our lives apart.
Far too many times we let
Unimportant things into our minds
And then it’s usually too late
To see what made us blind.
So be sure that you let people know
How much they mean to you
Take that time to say the words
Before your time is through.
Be sure that you appreciate
Everything you’ve got
And be thankful for the little things
in life that mean a lot.

WORDS

•January 2, 2008 • 3 Comments

What a marvelous book one would write by narrating the life and adventures of a word! Undoubtedly a word has received various impressions of the events for which it was used; depending on the places it was used, a word has awakened different kinds of impressions in different people; but is it not more grand still to consider a word in its triple aspect of soul, body, and movement?”

- Balzac in Louis Lambert

Read it somewhere and i felt i should pen down something on my passion, ‘words’..’I personally believe words have extra ordinary and inexplicable power,it has way of saying things which we cant even think of, the ferocity it can generate is beyond our comprehension, the way it is said, the context on which it is used, the timing, all may lead to a different interpretation altogether, giving an altogether different import, making others misconstrue what we actually intend to say, so we must take utmost care in using it.

Words are under your control untill u speak them..
But you come under their control once u have spoken them..

Monologue of a bicycle amidst rain..

asfd.jpg This pic fascinated me, and instantly triggered me to pen down something about it.. would post it soon :)

Faizan said :

Faizan: “I may be a loner in some seasons, yet I’m content with my simple origin.” That’s what I see. =)

Mansi Joshi said :

ohk. well… i dont (mean like cant) comprehend it in “one way” (i am too confused for that) still.. it can be- like the bicycle(here the protagonist) ..his journey has been stopped by rain. It started to rain..and it brought some painful memories back.maybe ..the memories never left him. he just uses “Rain” as an excuse to let them flow out of his eyes all over again. so, he is standing quietly..drenching in rain..rain drops falling on him or tear drops falling out of him. its beautiful ! its sad…lonely…but still beautiful ! peacefull !… with this beauty…comes sorrow too.a will , a sudden intense urge to change it back…like a thunder..to change whatever he wants to…it strikes him..all over again…leaves a cut. and then…flows out. there is no shelter …no support…maybe he likes it this way. maybe he doesn’t. but he is not thinking of it much now ! all he is living in at the moment -is the past. which like this rain…comes back…once in a while..to make its presence felt…that it was never “out” of him…n to engulf him…all over again :| now my mood has gone bad- why did u ask me to explain it.. :(

Janani says:

wow!…am not that creative! yet…all i can see is a simple meaning, i am all alone….scared and vulnerable,i had run as far as i can…but couldn’t  anymore,i almost give up…but there comes a ray of light…. help is on its way….hope is still left in the world…. now i believe that i will survive,i will feel safe again…

Amanpreet says:

Theres so much I have to know. So much I have to discover that it
overwhelms me sometimes. I wonder if Ill be able to do the task as
humongous as the one that lies in front of me? I feel like giving up but I
know that I should try. I know that I should keep on walking steadily.
That people might have a different sets of benefits that I crave but
in REALITY its just that they are living with different experiences
and facing a different sort of struggles. Everyone has a different sets
of blessings and different set of blessings they have to struggle to
earn.

Sometimes I want someone to reassure me that Im on the right path
and its in my hand to reach the destination. That I have the power to
reach there.

Whatever weather may be on the path Im on and whether I have someone
to fall back on or not, I should be resolute enough to keep on
walking. Ill find support if Im good enough. I wont focus on help if
Im good enough. Ill focus on solutions rather than problems if my
attitude is right.

I have come this far, I should keep on moving. If I give up hope, I
lose. If I don’t, theres still hope at least. And a sense of
satisfaction that I didnt give up. Keep struggling to win the right to
convert your dreams into reality. Not many people are able to do it coz
doubt comes in their way. Self doubt eats up the souls of men and reduces
them as a pale shadows of what they could have been. So come rain or
come shine, do what you got to do. What you ought to do.

Missing you a lot..

miss-u.jpg

Being apart from you isn’t easy…

I find myself missing you so often,in so many ways…

but even though we can’t be together right now…

Gentle thoughts of you fill my days and dreams of you fill my nights…

No matter what I’m doing,

I know it would be so much nice if I could be sharing it with you…

I keep imagining things you’d say if you were with me now,

or the way you would laugh if something funny happened,

and next thing I know,

‘m daydreaming about all the things we’ll do when we’re together again…

Although the miles come between us now,

I still feel so close to you,

and I just keep hoping the days will fly by because I want you beside me

to talk to,

to hold,

to love.

to keep from the hurts

and pains……..

“Night”- the best time of the day…

•October 10, 2007 • 3 Comments

nights.jpgNights, as i call it “the best time of the day”, has always fascinated me. The wintry nights in particular, lures me to stay awake all night long. The dark star studded sky fallin on us, the moon inviting us to come over and dine amongst the stars. The soothing cold wind giving us goosebumbs, a chill down our spine The silence of the night is so relieving, so enthralling yet so enigmatic. The other day i went to my terrace listening, humming to my favorite number (pehla nasha), gazing the sky, as if asking something, searching something over there. The wide spread of the same made me feel so timid as if the vast expanse of knowledge is yet to be revealed. The inherent mysticsm in the sky made me feel it’s playing games with us and smiling at us almost sneeringly on our ignorance.I was barefoot, the cold dew made my feet wet and it was just wow. The refreshing air i inhaled made me feel like i am emptying myself to something. Every breath was so refreshing and had so much to say. I almost involutarily closed my eyes, surrendering myself to it, allowed the soothing air to sashay me at its will as if i am a mere puppet. It is mysterious, captivating and inviting. We get answers for the questions we would never be able to frame. The sky stays there like always, so does the moon and the stars, still everyday there is a new story to be told, to be unfolded. Just like when we look at a piece of a painting. We come out with our own interpretation of the inherent meaning behind it, same with the night. there is wisdom in there, beyond our comprehension. It is always a novel feeling..

ahhh…that reminds me of a quote..”,If a lover is like a moon. friends are like stars, have you ever noticed that night can look beautiful without moon but never without stars.”
However somebody rightly contradicted, almost rhetorically and ironically,”but then even all stars taken together cannot shine as bright as a single moon.!?!”

Some people smitten by superstition harbours negative notions associated with nights, but i would rather glaringly contradict it and say “God gave us night we called it darkness”…
Okk so the whole point of this rather prosy introduction is that, my new found romance with wintery nights has tickled the dormant poet (a poet from nowhere and without rhyme and reason) in me once again..

Silence

silence.jpg

Have you ever experienced a moment in your life when you just ran out of words and you go… s i l e n t ?

Let me assist you in recalling…

.. the moment when you left your home for the first time and you look back at your parents who are worried that their son/daughter are leaving them yet happy that their child took the first step towards independence.

… the moment when the girl/boy you like most.. smiled back at you!You didn’t say anything.. you just smile back n turned around did a miny jig..(haha choo cute)

….the moment when you are alone and you smile silently as you recall something/someone, it is then when you really mean it..(it happened and happens with every one of us, is not it?)

… the moment when you get better marks than you expected… those “numb” moments of ecstasy n surprise “is that true?”…(with that cute confused face, wow)

…the moment when someone who is very very close to you is going away from you, as they leave, your hands stretch out as to stop them, but then you pull it back coz you know they would be better off if let gone, you smile and wish no matter where they go they always be happy..

…..the moment when u r alone in ur room, listening to your favorite number, enjoying each word of it, singing along, dancing freely as if no one is watching, its the moment when u enjoy being with yourself in that silent…

….when you sit silently n the terrace gazing at the dark star studded sky and all of a sudden a cold wind touches you off giving you goosebumbs…(feel it!)

….the moment when you are lying down n your bed engrossed in a novel, as you go through it, while turning the page (for that slight moment) where you start visualizing each scene as if you are watching a movie, the characters rushing through your mind in flash back, and you sub consciously start forseeing the future course of the story, looking forward to read the next page with eagerness more then what was there before…

…when someobody you have been thinking about drops at your place or calls you up…(somebody there in your mind now, hehe!!)

… the moment when you sit alone in your room after having told everyone that you cleared that exam you prepared for 6 months!!(savoring the moment)

..the moment you reach your home after a hectic day, you enter and turn on the light just to be greeted by your loved ones with a surprise party and with confettis and balloons bursting here and there, as you stand by the door smiling silently visualising whats in the offing for the evening…

…the moment when you had a trivial altercation with your loved one, while you are sitting together not talking to each other, and all of a sudden there is this song which is aired on FM, and you start with a jig in tune with the melody and look at each other and start smiling…

… the moment when you are parting with your old friend(s) and the train has just started… and you are standing on the door of the wagon.. waving “bye-bye” with your heart beating fast…(hmmm…)

… the moment after the HR manager has just called you and told you,”You are through! Congrats!”(Eureka!! i did it)

…the moment when you and your love attends a common social do(all decked up,looking ethereal)without being aware(or rather ‘made aware’,wink)of the same, as you exchange glances with those angelic eyes, going completely oblivion of eveything and/or everyone around, that moment you just smile with this comforting feeling that he/she is yours, and only yours..

…the moment while you are driving with your girl (sitting right next to you) and you are worried about something which didnt turn out as you had expected;the gal puts her hand on yours (on the gear pad) and without saying anything, looks right into your eyes, with that look of assurance (saying that things would be fine)…

..when you make something for the one you love after spending loads of time (cutting that from your hectic schedule), as you are making it, you start visualising how he/she would react when they see it..a (silent) smile lits up your face, and then you pat your head and say, hey, enough!get back to it now..lolz..!!

….When your love gives birth to your child, you are called in to see your little cuddly muddly baby, as you look and hold them (ahh twins, hehe) in your hands the feeling of ecstasy of being a father reflecting on your face with that smile, and a thank you expression on the face for your wife, its choo very cute..silence then is the best way (if not the only way) to communicate..

….When during the courtship period, you and your loved ones are together, and both sides of the family agrees to it, the feeling of security that comes up knowing that you are and would always be with the one you love, is so relieiving and comforting..that moment you just want to be with the person and stay silent…

…when a mother sees her baby sleeping, and all of a sudden he smiles or yawn she goes awww!!, the feeling what she goes through is reflected through the silent sparkle in her eyes..

….When your cell phone rings and you see the name of the one you love, for that fraction of second (after the ring, and before you pick up the phone) the silent smile that covers up your face is priceless..

…When your friends says something to you, you look at them, (though actualy not looking at them) as you are completely lost in the thoughts of one you love, its then when you are moonstruck, and you smile silently (notwithstanding your friends may be crying hoarse to get your attention, lolz)..

…when you are overflowing with love for someone you love, you are unable to hide your feeling for someone you love the most, you desperately wanting to confide what you are feeling to your closest friend, and finaly when you confide and then when you and your best friend remains silent savoring that moment…

…the moment when you accidentally hear somebody say something good about you..(ahhh haaa, lolz)

Can you imagine the importance of a silent moment in a song??When Bryan Adams stops for a while along with music, before he goes on in his husky voice…… Please forgive me. I can’t stop loving you! or the continual silence in Shaans … le chale …

Ever had those moments when you thought you were tired enough that you reach for your bed after dinner.. but find yourself wide awake looking at the roof of your room silently…
But you sure are ‘thinking’… those moments of self-talk are the most important in our lives. Those moments when we listen to our hearts! Those promises… those decisions… those are the moments when we make our destinies!

Next time you go silent… listen carefully to what your heart is saying.. listen to its joy…listen to its pain.. listen to its fears.. listen to its desires..Don’t make it shut up and go off to sleep.
LISTEN TO THAT VOICE and ACCEPT EVERYTHING IT SAYS!
That voice alone can lead you to the abode of peace that your sleep lacks… peace that awaits you! Be in touch with your true self… be silent once a day, every day!
Always maintain a silent smile…savor the moment..enjoy lifes little pleasure coz small things makes life beautiful in the most beautiful way…
You can go on remembering your “special” moments!
I had always wondered why I never said anything to myself at those moments.. as if it was “understood”…
Love. Joy. Grief. Surprise. Anger. Hope. Expectations. Support. Non-cooperation… happiness, joy, pain.. all feelings just flowed ceaselessly in the ‘years’ that passed in those flash moments!
They say.. the best way to communicate is through “silence”.

Serendipity

serendipity2.jpgJonathan: This is the ultimate blend to drink. How’d you find this place?
Sara: I first came in because of the name: Serendipity. It’s one of my favorite words.
Jonathan: It is? Why?
Sara: It’s such a nice sounding word for what it means: a fortunate accident.
- From the movie Serendipity (2001)

Now this is precisely why i have christened my blog with “serendipity”. Yes this is my favorite word.

Serendipity is looking in a haystack for a needle and discovering a farmer’s daughter.
