“Night”- the best time of the day…

nights.jpgNights, as i call it “the best time of the day”, has always fascinated me. The wintry nights in particular, lures me to stay awake all night long. The dark star studded sky fallin on us, the moon inviting us to come over and dine amongst the stars. The soothing cold wind giving us goosebumbs, a chill down our spine The silence of the night is so relieving, so enthralling yet so enigmatic. The other day i went to my terrace listening, humming to my favorite number (pehla nasha), gazing the sky, as if asking something, searching something over there. The wide spread of the same made me feel so timid as if the vast expanse of knowledge is yet to be revealed. The inherent mysticsm in the sky made me feel it’s playing games with us and smiling at us almost sneeringly on our ignorance.I was barefoot, the cold dew made my feet wet and it was just wow. The refreshing air i inhaled made me feel like i am emptying myself to something. Every breath was so refreshing and had so much to say. I almost involutarily closed my eyes, surrendering myself to it, allowed the soothing air to sashay me at its will as if i am a mere puppet. It is mysterious, captivating and inviting. We get answers for the questions we would never be able to frame. The sky stays there like always, so does the moon and the stars, still everyday there is a new story to be told, to be unfolded. Just like when we look at a piece of a painting. We come out with our own interpretation of the inherent meaning behind it, same with the night. there is wisdom in there, beyond our comprehension. It is always a novel feeling..

ahhh…that reminds me of a quote..”,If a lover is like a moon. friends are like stars, have you ever noticed that night can look beautiful without moon but never without stars.”
However somebody rightly contradicted, almost rhetorically and ironically,”but then even all stars taken together cannot shine as bright as a single moon.!?!”

Some people smitten by superstition harbours negative notions associated with nights, but i would rather glaringly contradict it and say “God gave us night we called it darkness”…
Okk so the whole point of this rather prosy introduction is that, my new found romance with wintery nights has tickled the dormant poet (a poet from nowhere and without rhyme and reason) in me once again..

  1. “… as if the vast expanse of knowledge is yet to be revealed.”

I would call it the best trigger of the night. =)

  2. I don’t associate nights with darkness. The stars and the moon give me hope amidst all that darkness that there’s still hope. You just need one flicker of light to end the darkness. So it spurs me to keep the faith and never stop dreaming. Its funny how the start formation is never the same. It keeps changing every night. Just like all of us creations, we are all unique facing our own devils and moving towards our own destinies. This thought makes me feel uneasy and special at the same time. I need to be at peace with my uniqueness and work towards being the best that I can be rather than trying to be someone else. Never lose yourself while trying to be someone else. I woud never trade my struggles and demons for another man’s victory. Coz in the end that makes me the man I am. That would help me evolve and grow into a being of higher level. That would stop me from being overwhelmed when I hear about other people’s duels and how they persevered against their adversities and I would have that elusive peace of mind and self respect and listen from them in right outlook.

The changing star formations teaches me that every moment is unique and I would be able to live my life more fruitfully if I learn to appreciate the beauty and miracle of every moment and learn to make the best use of it.

The thing with night is that everything is so quiet and calm that the peace we experience outside permeates to touch our inner self. The darkness encompasses everything it comes in contact with and light highlights everything it comes in contact with. Light is like a medium for everyone to prosper and darkness is like a monster that gobbles up everything it touches.

For me at least, its much more blissful to meditate in wee hours of morning coz there’s no distraction or disturbance whatsoever. We are conscious that there’s fervent dynamism beneath this dormancy. And we learn to see beyond the obvious and widen our vistas.

  3. i haven’t read the entire content but i agree with you…night-the best time of the day. supposedly i will post a blog about it. keep up the good work dude!
